Although Alt Magic is not available in the Shopify App Store currently, it is possible to integrate it with Shopify via API. You will be able to fetch the images, generate alt text and export them to Shopify with this integration. Follow the instructions below to connect:
- Log in as the account owner to the Shopify administration and open Settings from the left panel.
- Go to the Apps and sales channels section, then click on Develop Apps
- Click on Allow custom app development and confirm the choice. You will be notified that the application has API access to the e-shop data.
- Click on Create an app. Add an app name (we recommend Alt-Magic), select App developer (your account or someone else’s account managing the e-shop), and click on Create app.
- After creating the app, click on Configure Admin API scopes
- Enable the following accesses: read_products, write_products (you can search for read_products in the scope search box)
- Click on Save after selecting the 2 scopes mentioned above.
- Next, go to API credentials and click on Install app. Confirm the installation dialog.
- After installation, click on Reveal token once.
- Copy the access token with the copy icon button given
- Navigate to the Alt Magic app and paste the token into the Shopify Access Token input. Click on Import to start the image import process. Please note that there should be at least 1 product in your store to import the images
